The Union for Change 2025 (UpC 2025) is a broad coalition of political parties, civil society associations, independent personalities, and ordinary citizens who have decided to unite around a Common Program of Transition and Rebuilding and present a People’s Consensus Candidate for the October 2025 presidential election.
The Union for Change is not a loose grouping of candidates approved by the Constitutional Council with diverse and contradictory agendas.
It is a PEOPLE’S COALITION, open to all citizens and all political and civil organizations — including those whose candidates were unjustly excluded from the presidential race — united around a single goal: to win the October 2025 presidential election and rebuild Cameroon during a 3 to 5-year transition period.
The Union for Change 2025 (UpC 2025) is more than a coalition — it is a citizens’ movement. Political parties, civil society organizations, community leaders, and ordinary citizens have united behind a Common Program for Transition and National Rebuilding.
Our mission is clear: present a single People’s Consensus Candidate for the October 2025 presidential election, win, and launch a 3–5 year transition to rebuild Cameroon from the ground up.
We are not a patchwork of candidates with conflicting agendas approved by the Constitutional Council.
We are THE PEOPLE’S COALITION, open to every Cameroonian and every organization that believes in a new future — including those whose candidates were unjustly excluded.
The Union for Change 2025 traces its historical roots back to the Union for Change of 1992, which led to the (stolen) victory of the Coalition Candidate Ni John Fru Ndi.
Since then, several initiatives have sought to unite the forces of change: Front des Forces Alternatives (FFA), Stand Up for Cameroon (SUFC), Cadre Citoyen de Concertation (C3),
Alliance pour la Transition et la Refondation (ATR), and others.
Learning from both the successes and failures of the past, the Douala Group, under the leadership of Anicet Ekane, Djeukam Tchameni, and Sam Mbaka, gave structure and content to the people’s call for a united front of change.
Extensive consultations led to the establishment of a Common Program for Transition and National Rebuilding, as well as a transparent process for selecting a People’s Consensus Candidate.
The specific objectives of the Coalition are:
Unite all forces for change around a common program of Transition and National Rebuilding
Present a People’s Consensus Candidate for the 2025 presidential election
Lead a popular and participatory campaign that mobilizes citizens across the country
Ensure presence and monitoring in all polling stations to safeguard the people’s vote
Win the presidential election and defend the people’s victory
The Union for Change 2025 is, above all, an initiative of the Cameroonian People themselves. Every citizen is free to join the Union as an individual member. Political parties and civil society associations can also become members. The organizational structure of the Union for Change is intentionally light and widely decentralized. The people must take control of the electoral campaign.
The basic unit of the Coalition is the conscious citizen — the man or woman who decides to take control of their social destiny and participate in positively transforming their country. This citizen simply fills out a membership form online or in person. They commit to promoting the Common Program for Transition and Rebuilding in their community, participating in grassroots campaigning for the People’s Consensus Candidate, going out to vote, and monitoring their vote. Hence the slogan:
“ON OCTOBER 12, 2025, IT ALL DEPENDS ON ME.”
In each municipality, citizens come together to form local committees. Once formed, the local committee registers online or contacts the Coalition headquarters physically or by phone. The role of the Local Committee is to:
The National Coordination of the Coalition is composed of two representatives from each member organization. It meets as needed to make major decisions for the Coalition.
The National Coordination has a permanent administrative secretariat hosted at the Coalition headquarters. It creates as many commissions as necessary to carry out the campaign effectively:
• Strategy
• Research
• Communication
• Fundraising
• Mobilization
• Parallel Vote Tabulation
• and others as required.
The administrative secretariat also encourages the creation of regional and departmental coordinations and oversees their functioning.
